Business as vessel
Do the dimensions of your business reflect the One in whom all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell?
Vessels contain.
Containers are structures.
Structures have dimensions.
When the dimensions agree with the measure of God’s Word—and the structure is rooted in the love of God—the vessel may be filled with all the fulness of God:
“That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; that Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith’ that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height, and to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.” —Ephesians 3:16-19
Consider this in light of not only your inner life, but also your business as well.
Business is a vessel by which value is given and received.
Is the breadth and length and depth and height of your business rooted in love, established by God, strengthened by God, in agreement with His Word?
It is in Christ that the fulness of God was pleased to dwell (Col 2:9). Even the temple and the tabernacle in which God dwelt among the Israelites was a structure—built to exact specifications—but those did not host the fullness of God.
“…Moses was divinely instructed when he was about to make the tabernacle. For He said, “See that you make all things according to the pattern shown you on the mountain.”" —Hebrews 8:5
““All this,” said David, “the Lord made me understand in writing, by His hand upon me, all the works of these plans.” And David said to his son Solomon, “Be strong and of good courage, and do it; do not fear nor be dismayed, for the Lord God—my God—will be with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you, until you have finished all the work for the service of the house of the Lord.” —1 Chronicles 28:19-20
But the tabernacle and the temple did host Him.
There are areas of our hearts and lives in which we are all yet-to-be like Christ — not yet formed, shaped, structured according to His image, His pattern, His structure.
We can be sure that He who dwells in us is One “greater than the temple” (Matthew 12:6).
And if He who dwells in us is working and willing in us according to His Spirit and good pleasure to shape us into the image of Christ, we can be sure that He is worthy of being trusted in that work, and that our submission to His Way will produce results — no only in this life, but in the life to come.
Considering yielding to God, His Spirit, and His handiwork, to shape you and any business He has purposed for you to steward, and watch what happens.
