Experience actually does matter

Lived experience > intellectual understanding

It is one thing to tell an amazing true story.

It is another thing to tell an amazing true story that you lived and experienced.

The difference is one of power.

“For I will not dare to speak of any of those things which Christ has not accomplished through me, in word and deed, to make the Gentiles obedient—in mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God, ... And so I have made it my aim to preach the gospel, not where Christ was named, lest I should build on another man’s foundation…” —Romans 15:18-20

Two people can tell the same true stories about what God has done, but the one who lived and experienced it actually happening has an authority, a relatability, and a power to transform that can never be replicated by the one who has not lived and experienced that same story.

The lived story has a real, tangible foundation. You can actually feel and sense it when someone speaks from that foundational level, and when they don’t.
